The Marine Corps League and Oglesby Elks gave out bags full of Christmas gifts to families and they also provided treats, small toys and lots of games and activities including a petting zoo for kids from the Oglesby area.

It's always worth going out for an event at the PFD. You had to feel bad for the number of times they got called out on what would have been a great opportunity to spend time with friends and family, but these guys just take it in stride and hand off the serving to someone else. It was fun!

A large line of little-ones showed up at LPHS Saturday Dec 1 to be entertained, make crafts and even see Santa and Mrs Claus. The kids of LP take this task seriously every year and you can tell by the atmosphere that they are all really into making the day special for the youngsters. Great job!

It may have been rainy Saturday morning but it was a packed house at the Shell station across from the LaSalle Police station. There was a bake sale in addition to the grilling of hot dogs and lots of candy canes as Officer Santa manned the doors. Fun times/ great cause!

It was another great year of giving back for Hy-Vee, the Peru YMCA, WLPO, WAJK, the WOLF... and did we mention a bunch of the folks in the Illinois Valley? People gave on Saturday and the Illinois Valley Food Pantry benefited, seeing much needed items arrive to restock the emptied shelves refilled.

Veterans were honored and celebrated throughout the Illinois Valley on Sunday the 11th. I made it to Peru's Washington Park where 20 new names were added to the list of Veterans who had passed. Over 1600 members of the military found their final resting place in Peru.

I had a blast today meeting folks at the Vendor Show portion of this years Miller Group Media Cooking Show and Guy came back with a bang! My personal favorite part of this was seeing all our volunteers in action. I just hope they all had as much fun as we did watching them! Thank you all so much!

This  fundraiser of the Starved Rock Cycling Association is the only fundraising event they hold each year and I have to admit that they pull out all the stops! Volunteers arrived at the Troy Grove Rest Stop at 6a.m. even though the first rider wasn't expected until after 8.
